SPECIAL: RADIANT SKIN

Last week we talked about eye makeup step by step...this week I’ll tell you all the secrets for having impeccable skin this season.

WHAT WILL WE TALK ABOUT IN THIS BULLETIN?

How to have radiant skin this season...

I know that for many of you your greatest interest is how to make up your eyes.  I can understand that because it’s one of the prettiest parts of the face and it’s a part you can make so much of.  However, let me tell you that if you know how to make the most of your skin, and you know what kind of foundation you should use, as well as the foundation that best meets your needs and even more important, how to apply it, the rest of makeup is practically nothing.

Unlike other professionals and aficionados, for me, preparing the skin and making the most of it is one of the most important things to consider when doing clean and elegant makeup.  This is because you can make your eyes up beautifully, but if you don’t know how to correct your under eye circles or give luminosity to your skin, the effort will have been in vain.  So follow these steps to once and for all make the most of your skin.

SKIN CARE

1.The first and most important thing to do is follow these steps before making yourself up:

  • Clean
  • Eye moisturizing
  • Skin moisturizing

PROFESSIONAL SECRETS

If you notice your skin is dull and lacks luminosity, exfoliate with a gentle exfoliant before making yourself up.  Wait a few minutes and moisturize your skin, and you’ll see how quickly you recover luminosity.  Remember, the exfoliant should be gentle or else your skin will redden and you’ll have to wait at least half an hour before you can apply your makeup.

BEFORE APPLYING MAKEUP

Before applying the foundation, it’s very important to correct any imperfections.  Follow these steps:

2.Under-eye circles

  • If your under-eye circles are deep, use a cream corrector and apply it around the circles and in the lachrymal area.
  • Then blend well with the fingertips to avoid leaving any excess product.
  • If your under-eye circles are not too deep, you can use an illuminating corrector on top of the foundation.

PROFESSIONAL SECRETS
Apply the corrector on the entire eyelid too, since this is a very dark area of the face.  This way you’ll add luminosity to your look with any type of makeup.

3. Red areas and other imperfections
The next step is to correct blemishes and red areas of the skin, such as small imperfections, spots, etc...

PROFESSIONAL SECRETS
If you have many blemishes, use a corrector that also dries and apply it before the foundation.  Then after applying the foundation use a synthetic hair brush to apply a little more directly on the blemish and add loose powder with a brush to blend the edges.  You’ll see how it disappears, particularly if you avoid using excess product (which will make blemishes more noticeable).

STEPS TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR SKIN

Your foundation color

The first thing is to know what color is best for you, so follow these suggestions:

  • If you have rosy skin

If you have rosy skin, get a foundation with rosy tones in the formula, since the function of the foundation is to unify the tone and not change it.  Later, if you want more color, you can add a tanning powder.

  • If you have yellow skin

Just like with rosy skin, choose a foundation with yellow pigments to neutralize and unify the tone.

  • For all skin colors

Whether your skin is light or dark, rosy or yellow, the color you choose should be the same as your skin. Not lighter, not darker.  Before buying a foundation you should always test it on your skin to see if it blends well.  If so, that’s your color!

4. Your texture

Depending on your skin type you’ll need a certain level of coverage.  Follow these suggestions:

  • Normal skin

If you have the good luck of having normal skin, you can choose practically any foundation you want.  The best texture will be a light liquid since you don’t have imperfections and don’t need lots of coverage.  Cream moisturizers with color are also appropriate for you.

  • Combination skin

The best texture for you is an oil-free liquid foundation. Don’t choose a texture with too much coverage or in powder form because they will further dry your dry zones.

  • Oily skin

Your best option is a cream or powder foundation.  Choose cream if you prefer more coverage, since powder is usually quite light.

  • Dry skin

Your best option is an oil-based liquid moisturizing foundation.  Remember to avoid powders since they further dry your skin.

5. How to apply the foundation step by step

  • The first step is to moisturize
  • Continue with the correctors
  • Next we apply the foundation, and we apply it with downwards movements to keep the pores clean.  You can apply the foundation with a sponge, with the fingertips or with a brush.  I recommend using a sponge or brush (for cream and liquid textures) since with the fingertips it’s harder to blend.
  • Once the foundation is applied, use a brush and loose powder to mattify any shine that the foundation hasn’t eliminated.  If you don’t have any shine, don’t use powder since it will reduce skin luminosity.

FINAL TOUCHES

6. The final touch is illumination. It’s best to use a pearly powder in the T-zone, particularly in the upper part of the cheekbones.
